Chief Jim Pettit started his service in the Sodus Fire Department, where he served as lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and deputy chief.  While serving there, Chief played an integral part in teaching fire prevention in schools and also founded the Sodus Emergency Council.  In 1992, he moved to the Sodus Center Fire Department, acting as treasurer, president, assistant chief, and currently still holds the title of chief.  He has been in the fire service for 53 years.
